Lauren is a former lighting designer currently based in Milwaukee, WI.
She attended Philadelphia University and has a B.S. in Interior Architecture.
While in school Lauren wrote her thesis on a Children’s outpatient rehab center. This was sparked by her personal experience with her niece who has struggled through 3 liver transplants, seizures, rehab and constant surgeries and struggles her whole life.
While Lauren has always had a strong passion for healthcare design witnessing her nieces struggle first hand, set her on a mission to help improve the experience for the patient, their families and the healthcare providers.
Lauren was an intern her senior year at Grenald Waldron Associates (GWA LIGHTING), a well known lighting firm in Philadelphia. It was here that she realized there was a negative stigma swirling around healthcare design. She was troubled to learn it was seen as “boring” and “institutional” and designers were shying away from being involved in these types of projects as a result of these perspectives. She however viewed this as a challenge and wanted to encourage change for healthcare design professionals.
Having spent 10 years with prestigious firms such as GWA Lighting, Francis Cauffman Architects and SBLD Studio her combined efforts, experience in design, knowledge of codes and her passion for healthcare, have now made her a leading expert and mentor in this market.
While she has worked on numerous projects including, commercial, hospitality, retail, education, exterior façade and landscape lighting…healthcare environments are where her true specialty and passion reside.
Lauren has been with Visa Lighting for the past 2.5 years and is the Healthcare Market Development Manager for the entire US. She is also an LC, EDAC certified and a dedicated member of the IES Healthcare Committee and local chapter.
Outside of work she enjoys family time, playing competitive beach volleyball and yoga.
